Willie Revillame to run as Vice-President in 2010?

There’s been buzz going around that Senator Manny Villar invited Willie Revillame to run in 2010. Earlier news reports said that Revillame was invited to run in the Senate slate of NP. However, it looks like he might be running for higher office. There have been rumors along the grapevine that Revillame is actually Villar’s pick to be his running mate for the 2010 elections. Yes, you read that right – he actually might run for Vice President.

Here’s a video on SNN with Kris Aquino dropping hints on Revillame’s supposed candidacy. It’s somewhere in the 5:00 mark. Bear with the quality and the length of the video. The first 5 minutes aren’t related at all to this article.

To quote:

Kris Aquino: Willie, baka naman tatakbo ka rin ng Vice President, tayo tayo din ang mag-away.
Willie Revillame: Naku, nag-iisip din ako.

Wow… wow… wee!

Whatever Revillame’s decision is, you have to admire Villar’s party strategy. He’s really playing to win. In his senate slate, he tried to get people who could bring him votes from various sectors of the Philippines. If he were to get Willie as his running mate, that would make the NP an even more formidable force to reckon with.

However, I won’t vote for Revillame. The values and character that he displays during the noontime shows is against a lot of what I stand for. If he runs for Senate, VP, or any government post, he won’t get my support.

I don’t know what to think of our fellow countrymen if they do vote for him as VP. the world has gone bonkers! Villar only proves (if he does pick Villame as running mate) that he’s in it just to win but not as service for the Filipinos. And that’s just wrong. They both won’t get my vote.

It is always the right of any individual to decide whether to run for public office or not, that is part of a citizen’s right to vote (or be voted for).
As voters, it is also the public’s right to decide whom to vote for. If Mr. Villar has shown his ‘political savvy’ by attracting potential ‘vote-getters’ to his senatorial/party slate, its up to the public to see thru the plan and the character being magnified in such moves. Is it merely ‘political savvy’, political pragmatism or opportunism?
I have faith that our people’s maturity has gone quite far already and the democratic space and facility to express one’s choices has significantly raised the the bar higher than before. Now even the issue of ‘winnability’ is not the sole determining factor. More and more now people also consider the question: who is the proper person for the office, whether he is ‘winnable’ or not. In short, we now can ask, is he the right man/woman for the office. It is no longer whether I vote for the one who will win or lose but whether I use my vote wisely.
This is part of our national maturity as a people. Kudos to Mr. Carlo Ople and the rest who provide good opportunity for a healthy exchanging views on the issue.

  3. I have nothing against Willie Revillame. But personally, I think he will be more efficient as a TV Host of Wowowee. Does he really have to enter politics to serve people when he’s already doing it in the first place.

    This is sad.

Why can’t he just stick to TV. Who knows? Joey Deleon might run too. That’ll be good debate on the Senate floor. Hahaha

Filipinos never learned their lessons well. It always popularity over capability. I know that everybody has the right to run for office but doesn’t mean that those people who doesn’t have any knowledge about the position they’re running for should. It’s not enough that they’re popular, kaya nga walang pagbabago sa Pilipinas. Willie Revillame as vice pres or senate?????? Ano ba yan? Mag-isip-isip naman sana ang boboto. palubog na pilipinas dahil sa mga tao na walang karapatan magpatakbo ng gobyerno, heto na naman ang isa pang walang alam. BOSES NG MAHIHIHIRAP! How can that be when willie’s lifestyle proves otherwise. He has several houses, luxury cars, yatch and now an airplane. Doesn’t that show that he’s so pretentious. He may may have worked for his money but whatever he has is too extravagant most specially when people are saying willie is pro-poor. I just hope and pray that Filipinos would be intelligent enough to discern a genuine leader. Maawa naman kayo sa mga susunod na henerasyon.

guys better vote wisely ,just a tip, vote those people who had the least reason to be corrupt such as candidates who came from family with dignity, or a candidate who’s become rich but had once experienced poverty. this means it shud be between ninoy and villar only.

ninoy came from the family who once worked hard to defend Phillipines’ democracy, who’s mother became an icon for truthfulness and non corrupt government inside and outside the country. so there’s possibility that he’ll never, or at least have a very less attempt to dig in to corruption because of the dignity and image of his parents. this really counts.

on the hand villar, ranked as 9th richest person in the phillipines and who came from remote area of tondo where pure poverty is visible. money wont be a big deal for villar anymore. he may tried to convey willie to join his team to assure success but we don’t know whats inside him, he may wants toassure his winning because of his willingness to make a change in our county.

it’s up to all of you to decide.

Its funny and ironic that to be a chief of a division in a government office, you must be a master’s degree holder first before you qualify. To run however as a President or a Vice President, no such requirement is needed. The Constitution should be amended making the qualification of the candidates for the said positions more strict. A leader should be intellectually capable of performing his duties. It is sad, when shall we discard the habit of electing “popular” candidates?

  9. joboy says:

people who will vote for this kind of person are idiots!!! election is not for popularity but instead for the credibility of the person who can govern and lead his people. look what happened to his previous shows. he cheated once and he didn’t even apologize to the public instead he tried his tears to fall down to get the people’s heart. do you think he really love the masses? i don’t think so!!! he uses the masses to receive high ratings to his show because he knows the weakness of the masses…. MONEY!!!!

  10. JumpBall says:

…Manny Villar said in an interview that Willie Revillame has the qualifications to become a Senator…

….Ha???what qualifications?? parang go for the win nalang tong si Manny Villar..Ang mga senador po ay gumagawa at pinag-dedebatihan ang mga batas…hinde po para mag-hiphip hurray!!!

If willie is villars running mate. It shows what kind of president villar will be…di ba sabi show me your friends and i’ll show you who you are..I hope the filipino electorate will once again prove to be more intelligent than what this politicians think…Its time to clean house and vote for politicians with the filipinos and the country in their heart and not their pocketbooks in their mind. Then again philippine politics is a noontime entertainment..wowowieeeeeeeeeeehehehehe.

  12. frank says:

Manny Villar, You have done well on your own…You dont need a wowowieeeeeeee to win..leave him at the noontime show…magpaligaya na lang siyang ng fans niya..be the man you are.sayang ka..kala ko pa naman pwede kang maging idol ng mga pilipino…

i have nothing against people having dreams… in fact, dreams are what propel people to be more than what they are. but the most important thing is know the motivations of the person possessing the dream. look into his character, his everyday dealings with people less fortunate than he is and compare them to how he respond to people who seems to be ‘bigger and better’ than he is.

i love the philippines and i am a filipino but i have doubts in the ability of our people to make the right choice… i just hope im wrong.

im not into showbiz but i became an instant dolphy admirer when he said… he is not worried of not winning but he is scared because he doesnt know what to do after winning.

here is a great man who has proven himself yet knows what he can do and what he cant…

ikaw willie, alam mo din kaya kung sino at ano ka? prove yourself first… rate yourself honestly:
