Why am I voting Manny Villar for President

This has definitely been one of the more difficult political and personal decisions I’ve made in the past few months. Deciding on who to vote for in the upcoming 2010 elections for President is a tough endeavor. This is something that I’ve worked on through research, personal interviews, and a lot of prayer. I know that this post will get a lot of heat from supporters from various candidates but the important thing is that I’ve made my decision and I am acting on my belief. It’s time to finally get off the fence and stop being part of the “undecided” group. I’m voting for Nacionalista Party’s standard bearer, Senator Manny Villar, for President.

There is no Perfect Candidate
First let me just say that there is no perfect candidate. All of them have problems and risks. My personal belief is that the worst possible scenario is electing a candidate who is not ready for the job. The Presidency is the most difficult, challenging, and stressful position a person can take. We cannot just put someone there who doesn’t have the necessary experience, track record, and skills because it will just result to either that person becoming a puppet president or he screws up the entire country.

Let me just stress that again: the biggest risk for us is electing a President who doesn’t know what he will do once he gets into position.

Among all the candidates running, Manny Villar is the most qualified to run the country.

1. He’s shown that he has the guts to go after corrupt officials. He impeached Joseph “Erap” Estrada. His party has been at the forefront of investigating anomalous scandals and issues like the NBN ZTE, Fertilizer Fund Scam, and the Hello Garci case.

2. He has successfully managed his businesses and has built one of the most profitable financial empires in the asia. This is not an easy task to do. The experience of dealing with managers, department heads, and executives is valuable. Getting them to follow your vision is very hard and anyone who can do that is a gifted person.

3. He is loved and adored by his children and wife.

4. Villar has the most political experience: Congressman, Speaker of the House, Senator, and Senate President. Well, next to Erap Estrada (lol).

Villar has a solid track record that is built on the foundations of service, skill, and excellence.

But PGMA was competent! Look at what happened to us. We shouldn’t vote for competent people anymore.
Let me set the record straight here. PGMA was never competent. People package her as an economist but she really doesn’t have any good corporate or business experience. Her claim to fame was her last name and that she was “well educated”. That’s it. Manny Villar is light years ahead of PGMA in terms of qualifications.

The issues raised against Manny
Senator Villar has been accused of so many things in the past few months. However no one can really say for sure if these are all true. One big question that I have is why are all of these things just coming out now? I mean Senator Villar has been in government service since forever. Why only now when he’s running for the Presidency are his competitors pointing fingers at him for doing this and that?

Yes, some cases have merit. A lot of them don’t. But then again there’s NO candidate in the running who is spotless. What I find so ridiculous is that the people blatantly accusing Villar of corruption are the ones who should be looking at themselves and at the people surrounding them.

About the money he’s spending on his campaign
Manny Villar is not the only candidate spending millions upon millions for his campaign. If you check all the press releases Senator Noynoy Aquino and the other candidates are spending almost the same. The main difference here is that Manny Villar is spending his own money. He is not beholden to anyone should he win. Other candidates will be pressured to pay off their debts in the form of contracts or appointments. This is much more dangerous if you give it some thought because this is what has been happening in the previous administrations. Manny Villar, if elected, will be a President that will have no political debts to anyone. He can go after the Lopezes. He can go after MVP. He can go after San Miguel. He can go after Meralco.

Manny Villar truly represents the poor and the masses because he will not owe a dime to the rich families of the Philippines should he get elected. 10% of the population here in the country owns 90% of the wealth. By electing people who have ties to those 10%, we will just preserve status quo.

But your Tita is running under the NP! You’re biased Carlo!
You’re free to think whatever you want to think. Note though that I am not voting for a lot of the Nacionalista candidates. I’m voting for Mar Roxas for the Vice Presidency and I have a lot of Liberals on my senate slate (I’m a huge fan of Ruffy Biazon and TG Guingona). This decision was brought about by long hours of contemplation and debate with friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

But you’re a Christian! Shouldn’t you be voting for Bro. Eddie?
As a Christian I’ve prayed about this decision for months. I don’t think it’s automatic for a Christian to vote for a fellow Christian during the campaign. We have to scrutinize the competence and background of each candidate and I standby the idea that Manny Villar is the most competent and capable of leading our country to progress. Yes, Cindy Jacobs made a prophecy that Bro. Eddie will become President of the Philippines. But I don’t think she mentioned a date.

Are you crazy? You should be voting for Noynoy!
I am not voting for Senator Noynoy Aquino because I believe he does not have the skills, experience, and competence to run this country. His background only shows being a mediocre Senator and no real business or corporate experience. I honestly think that if he wins he will just be manipulated and bullied by those who pushed him to run in the first place. Some people say that he’s competent because “nanindigan siya” or that he was active in debates. Seriously do those traits make you qualified to be a President? Does that make you competent enough to lead 90 million people?

Villar’s Sacrifice
I think this is the most important factor which made me decide to vote for Manny Villar instead of Senator Dick Gordon (among other reasons). When the IPO of Vista Land allowed Villar to rake in billions, it would have been easier for Senator Villar to just sit out on the 2010 elections and coast along life as a filthy rich individual who’s loved by his family. That’s what I would have done. He could have spent the rest of his life traveling and tasting the pleasures this world has to offer. He could have just sat back and watched his children take over his business and all he has to do is to enjoy his remaining years.

By running, he knew that black propaganda would be hurled against him. By running he knew that he would be spending his own hard earned money that he can use for other more “fun” things on campaign materials and media buys. By running he knew that it would cause him an insane amount of stress that would tax him and his family.

But he did. He ran. Despite everything that makes running so stupid, he did it.

I’ve talked with Senator Villar on several occasions during blogger events. I’ve met his two sons and his daughter and I personally can’t imagine how hard it must have been for a politician to get his children to be that loyal and loving (speaking from experience here, haha). My gut feel tells me that here we have a sincere and genuine person who honestly wants to change the country for the better. He has the experience and he’s done it for himself and those around him. I’m voting for him because I believe in his vision, character, and his sacrifice. I am voting for him because after all my prayers and reflection, I believe God wants us to have a competent leader. No one really knows for sure what God wants and what His plans are but I will stand by this decision to support someone who I believe can lead our country forward.

I will no longer be held hostage by the idea that this election is a vote for either “good” or “evil”. That is just propaganda which was intentionally made to deviate the discussions from track record, experience, and competence to non-tangible, irrelevant, and immeasurable points. It’s like make-up trying to cover up for zits.

I am voting for Manny Villar for President and I am proud of it.

If you are a supporter of Manny Villar I encourage you to do the same. Post it on Facebook or on Twitter. Let people know where you stand. Don’t be afraid of judgement from your friends or peers because that’s just nonsense. There are two things you need to do this May: campaign for your candidate and vote for him come election day.

As a parting note – if ever Villar does win, rest assured that from his number one supporter, I will become his number one critic to make sure that he does do what he promised to do. Also, I will fully support whoever wins in the elections, regardless if it is Villar or not. :)

I like manny why? No mental depression. He so cool and beside I think he is the most experience to run this country. “Dapat rin naman tayong mga Pilipino tumulong din tayo upang mapaunlad ang bansang Pilipinas” At kay Nonoy talagang me “mental depression” Ka nanakot ka pa ng peoples power Di na uso iyan. Hindi gulo ang gusto ng mga Pilipino kundi maangat sa kahirapan. Sanay ka talagang pumatay Nonoy. Kaya kaming family kay Villar na lang.

  2. Arch. Michael says:

@Jeon…..What do you know about C5? If you know for sure Villar is corrupt, please inform us what “YOU” know. And please don’t give us the same shit we’ve heard from his opposition. I’m sick and tired of hearing something from the Liberal Party that I know for sure isn’t true. The first lie I heard from the Liberal Party was strike one. But, they have far struck out and there is no way I can believe anything the LP says. So again, if you know much about the C5, tell us what is so controversial about it.

  3. Jay-ar says:

I agree to all pro-Villar why? I don’t like Noynoy, when he was a senator he just pretending all the cases without clearer actions due to his position he wasn’t conduct a good governance to our country he just trust his sister Criz Aquino for short he is just a robot needed to program will, that I’m surely criz is the one who push Noynoy to run. if i want to chose who will run to Aquino’s family i rather choose Cris because she had a loud voice and braved in any trials in life nor to Noynoy and I don’t like there Relatives because they are influence in the different culture that made as miserable in our Farmers. There culture is mixed of Chines, that is why I’m afraid to them. *Excuse me to those Chines who commented here*. And Noynoy is just throwing a lot of mad to any presidency he didn’t think what is right or wrong when he throw a trash talk. I believe Villar is getting more competent to this position rather than to all presidency. Villar is fulfill his dreamed to become a rich man and because he is a influence person in the Industry his rival is pushing somethings that can surely washout the brain of his supporter like controversy issues that never proven(I conduct a research also). But if you look his face you feel that he never surrender he still keep on fighting which is the right leader that always optimistic and perseverance when he had a struggle in life. More Gibo is questionable and also Erap they are rule in a puppet economy such that they are running for other and selfish reason. Why I chose Villar? Even though he is rich, his wealth wasn’t wasted he help those OFWs that should be the duties of the Government especially to the President he use his own money to get the stranded OFWs in different countries overall packages Manny is the excellent Public Servant to our country why we need to vomit the Healthy food that we eat that given by from Manny Villar without any change in any value, besides Pacquiao had never spoken wrong intention to Noynoy because its really true.Manny Pac. says[laban ng laban wala namang nagawa]cool two thumbs up to Manny Pacq. Then again we can’t say that there are perfect leaders but they born into Human nature that the same who fail and made a mistakes to their life but the only thing we can give is trust and pray that he/she is the one who will destroy the LONG CORRUPT Chain.”A politician thinks of the next election; a statesman thinks of the next generation.” & “Truth is not determined by majority vote.” Mabuhay those who will be the next Good President to our country. Hoping that Allah and Jesus Christ will give the right leader to our country.

    hi,
i love your article. i have read it over and over again. Thank you for making it easy for me to understand and vote for Villar. I have shared this in my FB account and quote some excerpts in your article for those who would not want to read the whole but at least have read the profile. I hope you don’t mind. Again, thank you. God bless!

I dont know much about villar but your are correct. Finally convinced that Villar is the most qualified compare to gordon, Ninoy and gibo. all of them are not clean. About his wealth i like his lifestyle and its simplification considering the billions He opted to serve many people. Sabi nga, The necessary triump of evil is for good men to do nothing.

  7. dencio says:

I will Vote manny because among all the presidentiables he is the only one who is true, honest, hardworking, and fit to become our next president

  9. Jaime Lim says:

    THE STRAIGHT PATH

I pity the man who believes that a winding road leads to evil and only a straight road can lead to righteousness. I pity the man who holds such a myopic, narrow-minded point of view completely detached from the harsh realities of everyday life. And heaven forbid, I pity this nation if such a narrow-minded man ever sits to lead us.

A winding road is often a necessity. No road system can ever be complete without the necessary loops and curves. And, as any idiot knows, every straight road eventually has to wind and curve. Does this mean that this narrow-minded self–righteous man who I pity so much will eventually turn evil?

  15. marilyn lopez-tan says:

Hi Carlo! I really like what you have written, not only because of your choice of Villar but nost especially for the reasons why you have made that choice. I have not seen you since you were a teenager in high school and I just want to say that you are one mature and intelligent young man. We do know the Villars personally (we are in the same household in Couples for Christ for 8 years!) and … we just quietly bear all the hurtful lies and black propaganda against him. We believe in our hearts that he is the best we can have as president in this point in our nation’s history. He is not only capable and experienced, but a good man indeed. Woe to his political enemies, for destroying his image and reputation for their selfish interests.

Please send my regards to your dad and mom. :-)

  16. honey says:

    hi carlo,

yes, ur ryt. i agree with ur opinions about villar. i and my family also love and support villar all the way. whatever black propaganda’s they throw up on him. i still believe that he deserves to be our next president. i did a lot of research even before he is running for senator. why just now issues are coming out just to break the support of many filipino’s on him. but they cant just make it bcoz many people believes he can be a good leader.

  17. sha says:

y manny? he has the experienced..being a being a businessman and naproved na nya qng ano palaguin ang kanyang negosyo..magagawa din niya yun sa bansa natin..lalo na at tutulungan natin sya..sabi nga ni mr. villar walang imposible kung magtutulungan..

  18. bhong says:

im voting for villar , i think hes the best candidate, i heard a lot of him, besides im an ofw here in jeddah and really he helps some stranded ofws here. go villar!

  19. Ronnel says:

Another simple reason example noh based from my personal story para fair.

So true in real life as a general rule, “good intention ARE NOT enough”. dapat alam mo talaga ang gagawin mo hindi pwedeng andun ka na tapos saka ka pa mangangapa.

so in short dun ako sa may alam. sa may magagawa dahil napatunayan na naya sa dati niyang nagawa.

Now the lesson people is Please stop assuming na “corrupt yan, or etc.” against ANY presidentiables dahil lang sa ilang issue. pero bakit ganun nag aasume masyado? dahil ba sa kasabihang

    “pag may usok may apoy”?

so in short basta may issue lng maniniwala ka na? pathethic!

it is true na kung may usok may apoy. but it is our job to determine kung USOK nga ba iyon hindi HAMOG (which represent sa panininra).

    So simple ako guys noh?.

Go Villar!

I’ve done it and ended up with Manny Villar.

    GOODLUCK!

  20. Jean Morales says:

You’re absolutely true with all your words. I really agree with you ‘coz amongst all the presidentiables, VILLAR has the highest qualifications of being a candidate who is just aiming to make our country progressive. How i wish that he could make it to the TOP. Let’s just hope and pray hard for his victory. Thanks!

  21. Marian Chua says:

Liked your article. Would like to comment on thi: But you’re a Christian! Shouldn’t you be voting for Bro. Eddie?
Well, Villar is pro-family and pro-life. Supporting a president with these values says enough of being a Christian or Catholic or Baptist…& so on.
I also believe that he’s not 100% not corrupt. But again, who’s not? On his IPO shares issue, it was clearly a black propaganda. Erap cannot provide any proof. Kaya tahimik na ngayon. Almost all the issues that hounded him are black propaganda, so far no formal complaint and naihain. On C5, honestly, malaking tulong sya. From Pque to Makati, 15 to 20 mins. lang. Bakit ngayon lang sila nagsalita about dun? Didnt they review everything before voting for it? As far as I know, there is a process before implementation. Kung may inconsistencies, they shouldve known about it before pa.I know maraming nakinabang na senators from that deal.

Villar was perceived evil. People call him names like MOney Villar, Villaroyo, all that crap. He was already judged by the self-righteous hypocrites.

Inspite of all the good (wala ata) & the bad publicity (made by ABiaS CBN). My vote will never be swayed by media….Check!

  22. xtian says:

yeah..i agree with you..me and my family are also going to vote for senator Villar..
i think among all the presidential candidates he is the most competent, skilled and hard working. He is also helpful to those who needed his help. And i’ve also heard many good testimonies from people i knew, that he is a good man. That he really is kind to his employees. and i think those are already enough reasons and proofs for me to vote him. I’ve thought about this and i think i made the right choice.

i’ll be sharing this in my FB and i’ll be quoting some points that you’ve said. Thanks!

  23. Johnry says:

nabasa ko na to ng ilang ulit.
    d nakakasawa ^^

    Well said. Villar lang

  24. Bing says:

@Jay-ar, well we have the original title and we never sold it. NEVER. what villar has is the photocopy and yet he was able to secure a “new” original title daw. (some one from the LRA is gaining millions from producing new titles i assuire you). you actually believe that its not east to land grab? well, better go to LRA or better yet ask those people who filed against villar because i assure you, those are not false allegations.

do not lecture me about moving on and accepting changes because bottomline, ninakawan kami ng lupa. worth hundreds of millions of pesos na pamana samin. i wonder what will you do if it happened to you?

  25. Sugar says:

GORDON is my president and I’m proud of it. Ayoko na sa trapo.

  26. pops says:

bing, bakit ngayon kalang nagrereklamo! ngayong tatakbo si villar 4 president! bakit hindi ka nagpa interview noon kung talagang ninakawan kayo for sure pagpipistahan kayo ng media.bakit mo pinakawalan ang hundreds of millions nyo if totoo ang sinasabi mo. sa hasienda luisita nga ang daming farmers na masaker! hanggang ngayon wala pang nagawa si noynoy.

  27. Oyie Gaddi says:

I am also voting for Manny Villiar, He is a man for the job since he already proven him self his Business empire said it all. look Noynoy is a Joke. this guys uses and takes advantage of the emotion of the people who we know is still fresh from her Mom’s death(Tita Cory). We can also add he’s Self righteous attitude which makes him a Self righteous Fool.

  28. Clark says:

I respect your decision to vote for Manny Villar but I will leave the country if he wins.

If Villar wins, how do you think would he get his own money back? This is how every businessman thinks: Every penny used on something is an investment.

And by what you say ‘investment’ means that he should get something in return and as all businessmen would think, the investment they give should give back more. Manny Villar, just like all businessmen, does not think of the presidency as a vocation nor as a position to lead the people and ekekchorva. He thinks of the presidency as an investment, as a position for him to acquire more money, for his businesses to expand.

You have mentioned that it is not easy to talk in front of business executives, managers, CEOs and chorva but I beg to disagree. If your vision is to get more money for the company, then you would for sure direct their visions since they are businesspeople too.

  29. Leizyl Capio says:

Yes…he is the ideal man who could improve the lives of millions of filipinos…upto now they r not living… they r surviving….

  30. rolodexter says:

good god. it’s happening. villar’s going to be the next president. god save the philippines.

  31. mark isidro says:

WHY I WILL NOT VOTE FOR VILLAR?

For all the supporters of Senator Manny Villar, I sincerely respect your decision to vote for him comes the national election on May 10, 2010. Being under a democratic form of government like ours, we have our constitutional right of suffrage which we can exercise freely according to our individual choices. However, I believe that it is also our duty to be responsible voters in choosing our candidates who will lead our country to good governance. It is our responsibility to make our intelligent choice based on our proper analysis and evaluation of the candidates’ qualifications and experiences such as their platforms, integrity, competence, characters, how they react on various issues affecting them, etc.

Like you, I was once an avid supporter of Villar since he declared his candidacy for the presidency until recently when I changed my mind and decided not to vote for him for various reasons. As of now, I belong to the so-called undecided voters because I am still in the process evaluating the other presidential candidates and, hopefully I can eventually decide on or before the election day whom I will vote for. Now, let me explain below some of the reasons why I decided not to vote for Villar:

    1. BSP 4.5B loans by Capitol Development Bank owned by the Villars couple – Riza Hontiveros of LP recently filed a complaint with the Ombudsman requesting for an investigation of P4.5B loans allegedly obtained by Capital Development Bank (now Optimum Development Bank), owned by Senator Manny Villar and his wife, from Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) using spurious titles of certain properties legally owned by some farmers in Norzagaray, Bulacan. It was alleged that there must be something irregular in the grant of the loans because they were not properly approved by BSP aside from being collateralized by spurious land titles. While certain group from the BSP already denied such allegation, the Villar couple has not yet given adequate explanation for this alleged anomaly.

    2. C5 road scam – After so much time has been spent for the investigation of the C5 road controversy, the Philippine Senate reported that Villar was guilty of unethical conduct due to his involvement in the C5 road issue and, he was even asked to pay the amount of P6.2B representing loss incurred by the government as a result of the C5 road scam. He was not even attending to the Senate hearings because, according to him, he could not get a fair trial.

Napatunayan na in public that all the reports shown to the media were faked and these were confirmed by the people and parties from which the reports purportedly emanated, yet Manny Villar camp insists that Noynoy Aquino should undergo a psychological test to prove that he has no mental problem. This just proves the previous allegation of the LP that all the faked reports were orchestrated by the Villar camp and, in fact, the second and last bogus reports were personally presented to the media by Villar supporters. He just insisted that Noynoy should undergo psychological test. Sorry po pero hindi po ba dapat siya ang dapat mag-undergo ng lie detector test because clearly he is just pretending that he could not identify a “genuine from faked reports”.?

Unfortunately, most of these buyers defaulted to their monthly payments, thereby resulting to almost bankruptcy on the parts of those agencies. Substantial amounts of those defaulted housing loans were attributed to the units sold by the Villar companies and this involves billions of pesos. While the Villar camp explained that there was nothing irregular in those housing loan transactions because all requirements under the law were complied with and that, in fact, there has been no legal case filed against them in so far as those loans are concerned, naniniwala ako na ginamit ni Villar ang kanyang influence para makinabang nang husto ang kanyang mga kumpanya sa nasabing housing transactions.

    5. Maliban sa mga nabanggit ko na mga kontrobersya, mayroon din mga ibang issues laban kay Senator Villar tulad ng mga sumusunod (based on the blog of certain Mike Ismael):

    a. “Daang Hari Road – Like the C5 road extension, Villar has been accused of using his power and influence so that the DH road would pass through the subdivisions owned and being developed by his companies. In an interview by Ted Failon of Channel 2, Villar denied the accusation and said that there were only 3 of his subdivisions which were located along the DH road. He further said that there are also other developers (like the Ayalas) who were benefited from the DH road. Yet, when Failon staff subsequently checked the project, they discovered that there was no truth to the Villar claim that he has only 3 subdivisions along DH road. In fact, there were 23 subdivisons of Villar companies along DH road. Also, what Villar failed to mention is that the Ayala group is a private entity while he himself is still a public official who has a financial interest in the companies that owned and developed the subdivisions along the DH road – a clear case of conflict of interest.

    b. Paradise Park at San Pablo, Laguna – Villar is being accused of illegally acquiring a certain property (about 2.18 hectares) at San Pedro, Laguna, popularly known as Paradise Park. “HOW could a piece of property sequestered by the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG), and a lis pendens annotated upon its transfer certificate of title, land in the hands of a corporation called Crown Asia, owned and controlled by the so-called “brown taipan”, Manuel Villar, who wants to be president of the land? ” asked by Mr. Lito Banayo in his article.
    c. Savannah Homes, Iloilo – In violation of CARP, Villar purchased in Abilay Norte, Iloilo, a prime agricultural land and illegally converted it into a residential property now known as Savanna Homes. It was reported that Villar used his legislative prerogatives to get the DPWH to allocate P4 million to improve a half-kilometer stretch of road right in front of his subdivision main gate.
    d. Highest spender presidential candidate – Villar continues to be the highest spender among the presidential candidates and, in fact, it was reported that he even exceeded his allowable time limit in a 2 TV networks. Although he denied the veracity of such report, the COMELEC is still investigating this matter. According to Villar, he is spending much on ads campaign in order “ to level the playing field because he has no mother who was a former President and a sister who is a celebrity” obviously referring to Noynoy. I can still recall that, before the official filing of certificates of candidacy of different presidential candidates, Villar mentioned in one of his media interviews that “any politician who plans to run for President must have billions of pesos for campaign funds”. Recently, he confirmed that part of his campaign fund he is now spending includes P8 billions which came from his income earned by his companies in a stock deal. Considering the substantial amount that Villar has been spending compared to the salary and other benefits for the Presidency, I wonder how will he recover such huge expenditures? Obviously, he has to resort to anomalous transactions when he becomes President in order to recover the amount that he would have spent during the election.

    e. Villar campaign ads are not truthful – In his campaign ads, Villar presented himself as dirt-poor and became successful businessman because of hard work; also, according to him his late brother Danny died due to lack funds to buy for medicine. However, it was subsequently discovered that there is no truth in his claim of being dirt-poor because, in fact, his brother was hospitalized in a certain hospital where the middle-class patients were normally brought for medical treatment. Also, at that time his family were living in a subdivision where most middle-class family were residing. These were supported by a death certificate of his brother and a transfer certificate of title (TCT) of the lot where their house was situated. So far Villar was not able to disprove the veracity and authencity of such evidential documents.

    f. Villar is tagged as “Villaroyo”– There has been wide-spread rumor that Villar is the secret candidate of GMA and Gibo is only a decoy. The exodus of GMA allies to the Villar camp (like Deputy Security Advisor Chavit Singson, Manny Pacman, Jocjoc Bolante, the Ampatuan clans & Governor Zubiri of Bukidnon to mention a few) has given credence to such rumor; Also, his rival camp said Villar never openly accused GMA whenever there is a controversy against her. Villar refuted the accusation by saying that it was during his Senate Presidency when the Senate investigation of such controversies was conducted. But the report was made only after his replacement as Senate President. It’s obvious that the investigation during his incumbency was conducted not in aid of legislation but in aid of grand-standing or election. While Gibo is the official candidate of the administration, yet no sufficient financial support is given to him and his line-up. Worst, his senatorial line-up was not even completed due to lack of effort from GMA. All these things indicate that GMA is not really serious about Gibo candidacy because Villar is her real and secret candidate as previously claimed by the LP.

    g. Villar stock market manipulation – recent media report disclosed that Villar used again his power and influence to manipulate the stock market which eventually benefited his companies in the amount of P21B allegedly in violation of existing laws, SEC/PSE rules and regulations aside from being unethical and immoral. Atlhough Villar refuted the charges against him by saying that all requirements of law involving his companies stock transactions are complied with, he confirmed in a certain media interview that out of the revenues from the stock deal of his companies, he got P8B which he has been spending as part of his campaign fund. His rival accused him of not declaring said amount (P8B) in his SALN as required by law. The fact that the accuser was the former president of the Philippines, Erap Estrada, who had been accused also of similar anomaly (the BW shares) makes the accusation more credible.

    h. Unexplained wealth – Based on his SALN, Villar networth has increased about 13 times since he became a congressman and later as a senator. Considering the combined salaries and compensation of Villar and his wife as congresswoman, it appeared that Villar still needs to explain to the people the unusual increase in his networth. Even if we assume that the increase in his networth is attributed to his successful business operations under the most favorable condition, this will not be enough to satisfy the public clamor for a more convincing explanation.

    i. Villar built his business empire by corruption and deceit – It seems that Villar has indeed “ built his business empire through corruption and deceit “ as charged by his former lawyer, Atty. Restituto Mendoza. If we will consider various charges against him like the C5 road extension, Daang Hari road, land-grabbing at San Pedro-Laguna, and Norzagaray-Bulacan, the Savannah Homes controversy at Iloilo and recently the alleged stock manipulation, it appeared that Villar is indeed very intelligent businessman because he can easily manipulate any business transaction in his favor thru “corruption and deceit” without being caught. He can legalize his illegal transactions by using his power, money and influence.

    j. Villar is a Liar – When Villar critics accused him of being a congenital liar, I did not readily believe it. However, after having personally seen in some of his TV interviews in which he blatantly lied, I was finally convinced that the charge against him as a big liar is true. Example: When asked by Ted Failon how many subdivisions of his companies were located along the controversial Daang Hari road, he positively answered that there were only 3 , but actual inspection by the Failon’s staff disclosed that there were 23 subdivisions of Villar companies and these were covered by video tapes; Also, he told the media that the value of the share of stocks of his company (Vista Land) is doing well in the market, but the truth is that it went down from P6.50 to P1.88 as of April 24, 2010. Buyers of his company’s stocks incurred billions of pesos of losses contrary to Villar answer to the media. To me, I believe that “integrity” is very important qualification of a presidential candidate and obviously Villar does not have it. “

While this is not good form of campaigning, it could not be denied that in certain aspects we the electorate are the ultimate beneficiaries of this kind of campaign strategy because we are able to know what the candidates hide from us. It’s for us to evaluate or analyze the truthfulness of the accusations. We must be discerning voters to be able to choose the right candidates despite of all the black propaganda thrown by the candidates against their opponents.

I really have no intention of hurting your feeling. By sharing with you may personal experience regarding this election, I thought that it might help you decide more intelligently in choosing the right candidate. Lastly, thank you very much for sparing your precious time in reading my comments stated herein. God Bless you !!!

Looks like Noynoy wasn’t ready to lead the country, he has still many things to prove that he deserve on that position alone. In fact, Manny Villar had already done many accomplishments that he can even lead the Philippines without any evil intention. He can defend himself from all the controversies and so he can defend us from poverty and depression.

it’s true, villar is the best among the presidential candidates. because he’s the typical and most successful businessman-politician! very good in creating a facade, two tumbs up! if he wins, he’s back being a businessman again. woot, woot, woot! :D

  38. Adam_Smith says:

    @Bing
True or not, what you are saying is libelous. Go file your case in court if you are confident about your evidence. If it’s already been filed, you have no business talking about it or the court can issue a gag order against you.

Allegations and accusations will never equate to proof.
    As for the C5 issue:
has any case been filed in court or the ombudsman? NONE

C5 is a national road project but has any DPWH official been castigated in media or much less been subject of any investigation? NONE

Finally, the alleged double insertion issue for C5 has been REVIEWED, APPROVED AND SIGNED BY THE WHOLE CONGRESS AND SENATE and MALACANANG INCLUDING NOYNOY, ENRILE AND OTHERS. How can you pinpoint any wrongdoing against a single signatory? YOU CAN’T

As for Noynoy’s alleged legislative accomplishments: go check out noynoy’s own website: http://noynoy.ph/anti-smear/issue/wala-ba-talagang-nagawa-si-noynoy-sa-lehislatura.html

Most if not all the bills there are too insignificant as to amount to nothing.

Assuming without conceding that Noynoy is a good person, remember this:
“All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.”

Which is what noynoy “almost” did as Congressman and Senator.

  41. GabbyD says:

I’m surprised that you are going to vote for villar, given that you like TG Guingona.

if u believe Guingona, there needs to be budget reform — reform that requires trimming the powers of the president.

Guingona has said that Noynoy is on board with this, and will be his priority.

Villar has never said anything about limiting the powers of the president over budget disbursements. He isnt interested in it.

  42. joy jumps says:

I will share this article to everyone I know. It provides valid reasons why Manny Villar should be our next president.

My mom’s family hails from Tondo and attended the same school as the Villars. Now, my mom and her siblings are professionals – accomplished and working in different parts of the world. His slogan is really true: WALANG IMPOSIBLE.

It is true that his family truly cares for him. His children work long hours for the campaign. And they have never abused his posts even when he became a congressman and a senator.

If Senator Villar reads this, I hope he will not give up the fight. Sir, we believe YOU will lead this country to change.

  44. Noel Mosqueda says:

may loopholes kc ang leadership ni noynoy kung pagmamanage ang paguusapan take the case of Hacienda Luisita, nagkaroon ng uprising dahil sa discontent, now if true, na maging good leader siya why the hell that massacre happen and nanisi pa siya as a stand of the wrongness of the act.So people of good decision take this into account paano matanggap ng namatayan ng familia, and now you want to manage a country hacienda pa nga lang di mo mamanage ,.I rest my case

  45. Jay-ar says:

    @Adam_Smith
I agree with you.. besides if that issues is really true why you complain when Villar is running as a president your to late reaction Bing..

    @Bing

If you lose a Millions of money why you can’t try to get it or file a case regarding the stolen property. So it means you don’t have any reliable proves to your land or any strong complain regarding that land controversy.

This is the only thing that I can say to you:
If you have in the right place go! Give your break at this moment do not lose it
“A political leader is necessarily an imposter since he believes in solving life’s problems without asking its question.” ^_^ ,V,,

@jay-ar, actually its already in the courts and knowing how sloooowwwww the justice system is, its gonna take years. but the court didn’t dismiss it meaning we have enough evidence to prove our claims. sino nagsabi wala kaming ginawang action. we’re not stupid! we have the original title and we’re gonna win the case! bakit di nagpa-interview? wala naman magagawa yung interview sa media para mabalik lupa namin, hello? funny how people result to the media para sa ganung issue. like ibabalik ba ni villar lupa namin pag nagsumbong kami sa media? DUH!
