I was watching TV this afternoon and I heard Bianca Gonzales say that there was an artwork going around the interwebs made by a certain Mark Gosingtian which pretty much summed up everything that’s been happening in the past few days. It basically has the text “where I’m from, everyone’s a hero” and it uses elements of the Filipino flag. Pretty simple but so meaningful and just inspiring. I finally found it just a few minutes ago and I’m reposting it here. Mark, you should have this made as a shirt and donate portion of the profit to the Ondoy victims.

I have a confession. Before I was only proud to be Pinoy each time Manny P. would fight and win. However with what I’ve witnessed in the past few days, I’ll forever be proud to be a Pinoy because I know I come from the land of living and breathing HEROES.

I’d buy one such shirt too. Just hope he comes out with XXL (or in some cases, if the sizing isn’t US standard…3XL)
Flag watch
This is about the flag and the town of Santa Barbara, Iloilo.
On March 25, 1936, President Manuel L. Quezon. Issued E.O. No. 23 prescribing the technical description and specification of the Filipino Flag. It was followed by other directives assigning the National Historical Institute as the authority in Philippine Vexillaries and Heraldry.
Gordon’s proposed bill adding yet another ray to the Philippine flag should concern all Filipinos but most especially us Ilonggos.
The eight rays within the white triangle represent the towns within Luzon that hastened the Philippine Revolution.
However, Santa Barbara, which actively participated under General Delgado, was never represented in the flag.
Gordon and even Puentebella maintain that Muslim resistance to colonial rule merits a ray. Problem is, Mindanao is already one of three stars that mark our flag.
Whatever for is this bill? It begs a timely answer- acknowledge the ” Cry of Santa Barbara” in it’s proper conext.

HERO???? LAHAT NG BAHAY D2 SAMIN NINANAKAWAN!!! NASIRAAN NA NGA KAMI NG BAHAY NINANAKAWAN PA KAMI!!! HERO BA UN???? PUT@%$ %$#!!!!!
I will have to agree to Churvah.. although I do not agree as to how he expressed his sentiments (hehe).. anyway.. It’s really heart warming and it really uplifts everyone’s spirit to see the “Bayanihan” trait of Filipinos in action. But it really is saddening that there are people who takes advantage of the chaos for their benefit. politicians and thieves alike.
Anyway, the artwork is really cool and would look good in a t-shirt. I also captured for my desktop wallpaper.
I’m proud to be a filipino.
