What an American said about the Ondoy “Bayanihan”

Here’s something to cheer everyone up. An American who lives here witnessed what was happening and gave this statement:

“I wish you all could see the amazing community spirit, charity and compassion in the Phils. What I see happening here totally blows away the response to hurricane Katrina. People here have less to give, yet they’re giving ABUNDANTLY. There’s such a greater story than just the ‘death toll’ that the lame american media fails to capture.”

  37. I had a conversation yesterday with an anonymous person from Twitter yesterday. He was wondering why help are coming from all over the world and they have a different experience when hurricane Katrina struck them.

I said we have the spirit of bayanihan in us that is natural which other races lack.

  43. Kame says:

It’s in fact true that Filipinos have amazing spirit, openhanded, resilient and compassionate by nature… except the Greedy local officials.

It’s good this American dweller has a strong sense & percetion. And for sure he’s blessed for being logical…

However, I mainly pity the less fortunate. I have been expecting the local officials after Marcos regime that sooner or later they could provide bldgs that contain small units for the less fortunate ones… >>> like the remarkable system of Japanese and Hong Kong Govt.
Really Sad, No Changes at all….

    What goes around comes around.
Ondoy (the act of God) is just trying to impart and uncover that Local Govt. officials still remain good-for-nothing for not any has been enhanced and reformed except serving their own bellies, fattening their wallets and non-stop corruption.
    (Truth hurts)

    Thanks and GOD bless!

  49. Dennis says:
