Here’s something to cheer everyone up. An American who lives here witnessed what was happening and gave this statement:
“I wish you all could see the amazing community spirit, charity and compassion in the Phils. What I see happening here totally blows away the response to hurricane Katrina. People here have less to give, yet they’re giving ABUNDANTLY. There’s such a greater story than just the ‘death toll’ that the lame american media fails to capture.”
Thanks to my college blockmate for posting this on Facebook. Thanks to Ala Paredes for posting this on her blog. This made me smile. Eto ang tunay na EDSA.

i think its not just the real edsa. this is what we really are, this is the real Filipino.
damn proud to be one.

Kay sarap pala maging Pilipino
Bayanihan, honesty, courage, generosity and sincerity are just some of the words that truly describe what FILIPINOS and Filipino culture are.
Forget the ‘mandurugas,’ ‘juan tamad,’ and ‘maria clara’ image.
interesting. you are the first to confirm my theory that we are going through a special time, like an edsa… except not to oust a president but to save ourselves, our very lives.
Asteeeg. Mabuhay ang PINOY!
Have to spread the good news. Reblogged this (backlink). Thanks in advance!
MABUHAY ANG PILIPINO!!!
heartwarming ^_^ my heart just melts… ^_^
Bayanihan Reigns!!! Heal Philippines.
There are still reasons, good reasons, why we should be proud to be Pinoy.
this is who we are and we don’t need to hear it from foreigners for us to believe something that has defined us as a people for as long as one can remember…Sir Jim, not kay sarap pala…napakasarap maging Pinoy…damn proud of it!
Ipinagmamalaki ko, PINOY AKO!
When we see tragedy happening around us, we say we are lucky. But we are not. For every human life lost, we lose a part of our humanity.
I AM Proud to be a Filipino!
Ang bayanihan ay isang pahiwatig na ang mamamayan ay nagkakaisa na walang partipasyon ang pamahalaan. Kaya bakit may pamahalaan pa kung puwede namang ang mamamayan ang mamahala…
Awwww. makes you really proud for being a Filipino.
Wew!!That blew away all the stress and physical torture that my body had for the past 3 days…Im proud to say now that im part of it!!!AKO MISMO!!!
better to see and experience this kind of atmosphere… when will we reach the top again?
Mabuhay I am proud to be Filipino…
TALAGANG “PINOY POWER”
Amen to that!
Yan yang tunay na Filipino – BAYANIHAN kahit sa makabagong panahon.
This makes me want to sing “Handog Ng Pilipino Sa Mundo.”
Mahal ko ang Pilipinas!
Pilipino ako sa Isip, sa Salita at higit sa lahat sa Gawa.
During hard times like this, lalo mong mapi feel how blessed we are na di gaanong affected ng bagyo. Nature na ng Pilipino na mgbigay at tumulong kahit siya mismo nangangailangan. Hope this trait will pass on to the succeeding generation. And yes, we should all be proud to be a Filipino.
we are all those things. less and more.
we should accept that. even the negative ones. realize that we can be more. and move on – which is what’s happening. i hope let’s not all of us forget the whys and hows of this disaster though. this should not happen again.

Thanks for sharing this.
It’s high time that we start appreciating the goodness that inheres from our being Filipino. Likas tayong mabuti at mapagmahal. Iyon ay ang ating kasaysayan.
It’s also the same idea that we wish to restore and relive in our society today-may bagyo man o wala.
I had a conversation yesterday with an anonymous person from Twitter yesterday. He was wondering why help are coming from all over the world and they have a different experience when hurricane Katrina struck them.
I said we have the spirit of bayanihan in us that is natural which other races lack.
In these tough times, we have proven the the spirit is very much alive in every Filipino. Sann ka man sa mundo.
Sorry antok nako. Mali mali na type ko. hahaha
when nature gave you tragedy ,
you produced heroes !
iba ka talaga PILIPINO
ang ganda ng puso mo!
let us be united. wala ng magtutulongan kundi tayo lang magkakababayan.
the filipino is worth dying for

It’s in fact true that Filipinos have amazing spirit, openhanded, resilient and compassionate by nature… except the Greedy local officials.
It’s good this American dweller has a strong sense & percetion. And for sure he’s blessed for being logical…
However, I mainly pity the less fortunate. I have been expecting the local officials after Marcos regime that sooner or later they could provide bldgs that contain small units for the less fortunate ones… >>> like the remarkable system of Japanese and Hong Kong Govt.
Really Sad, No Changes at all….
What goes around comes around.
Ondoy (the act of God) is just trying to impart and uncover that Local Govt. officials still remain good-for-nothing for not any has been enhanced and reformed except serving their own bellies, fattening their wallets and non-stop corruption.
(Truth hurts)
Thanks and GOD bless!
i am proud to be one!
God bless our nation so as the Filipinos..
it’s very inspiring…
I AM A FILIPINO!
Join us in our journey to help people.
Yes! ang pinoy kahit saan, kahit kailan laging nagtutulungan… I am proud to be Pinoy!
we should really be oblivious of what other people say about us, we should just keep on doing what is best for our country as it is a reflection of what we are really made of.
Mabuhay!!! God Bless the Philippines!
