Powerhouse Dick Gordon

I was able to watch the recent Presidential forum in DLSU which was aired on ANC. Among all the candidates who participated, Senator Dick Gordon got my attention the most. His answers were direct-to-the-point and he presented solutions and plans that were logical and actually doable. Next to Gordon would be Gilbert Teodoro who also delivered quite well for the entire evening.

During the evening, Dick Gordon talked a program that I will support 110%. He discussed about giving free Kindle Readers to 17 million public school students. He even went on to discuss how he would get funds for that project. He also shared that he would raise the salaries of public school teachers to P40,000. For more details on how he’ll get the funding for these projects, check the original article on ABS-CBN.

I put a high premium on education and embracing new media and Dick Gordon pretty much played up to all of my “wants” in a presidential candidate. I’m not saying I’m voting for him but man this guy got a lot of points tonight. He’s definitely on my radar screen… but there’s no chance in hell I’m voting for his VP, Bayani. :)

Here’s a summary of the event:

Lastly, I found JC Delos Reyes to be the weakest candidate during the debate. His answer on sex education is just flawed and insane. I think the Kapatiran party made a huge mistake in fielding him and his continued participation in events like this will just drag down the political and social capital of the party. I’m looking forward to a debate that he can actually shine in so that he can redeem himself.

For the public school teachers, do the math an increase salary from P12,000 to P40,000 is a real big deal for all 500,000 teachers and their families. The “Kindle” is a great idea and explaining where the money will be coming from can in fact would become a reality to all public school teacher. I like the way Gordon thinks. He thinks like an American. Dick Gordon explained this in detail during an interview conducted by blogwatch.ph. I encourage you to watch it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYuyQxmlDF0&feature=related
With Villar his slogan “Sipag at Tiaga” should be change to “C5 at Tiaga”. He obviously made a lot of money with this project favoring his personal business. Ano pa ang hinihintay nyo, Villar cannot be trusted.

  2. Mark says:

CORRECTION: The “Kindle” is a great idea and explaining where the money will be coming from can in fact would become a reality to all public school CHILDREN. So what is wrong with his VP Bayani Fernando? Sometimes, if you are offended on what he has accomplished in Marikina and as a MMDA chairman. Sorry to say, you yourself are narrow minded. Matitigas ang ulo ng mga Pilipino, sometimes you need a strong leader to make things right for everyone. Sometimes it will take 10 Fernando Bayani to pull people out of the dark ages meaning the “the vendors” to promote dicipline and order. If you are offended on how he cleaned Marikina, you yourself need to be pulled out from the dark age.

My one single beef with BF is that he spent millions of tax payers money to put his face all over the country. 30% of my salary monthly goes to the government and part of that goes to the MMDA. I paid for his ads and I find it a huge insult that my money goes to his ambition of gunning for higher office.

Sorry Mark but I really won’t vote for BF and you calling me narrow minded won’t change that. Let’s just agree to disagree.

  4. Orochi Herman says:

Though, if you put aside the “put his face all over the country” bit, you’ll find that he did plenty of things that are at par with Gordon.

I may not like some of his crazy ideas, but hey, I’d take crazy ideas over sloth any day.

  5. Carlo Ople says:

    Hey Herman,

Sorry but I still can’t go over his tax payer funded tarpaulins all over the country, his commercials, radio plugs, and even cinema ads. I just find it too insulting.

  6. UtAk_pUgItA says:

It was a good show! Very entertaining :-D Gordon and Gibo handled the questions really well as for the others, uhm, still entertaining

  7. Orochi Herman says:

I’d ask you where that taxpayer-funded thingy came from, but to each his own, I guess.

  8. Riff Raff says:

This just shows that Gordon is open for progressive change and technology.

    Gordon for 2010!! :)

PS. Maybe you can still change your mind Sir Carlo on your current presidential bet. :)

  9. Mark says:

    Carlo,
I do not think it is all over the country. BF did say that any poster with his picture posted outside of Manila came from his own expense. That is remain to be seen, but keep in mind it is also hard not to notice Manila is better now than it is use to be. I will call that political will. You can also look at it in a different way, one can assume that his picture is a propaganda seeking for a higher office or one can also say it is a message to people in the street as a reminder. Can you also conclude that any project such as Gwapotel is also propaganda of GMA seeking for a higher office? When you enter the building, the first thing you will notice was her picture on the wall with a message. Setting that aside, I will take any picture along with their accomplishments compared to other dirty politicians. According to Paul Farol, former Columnist of Asian Correspondent, because one’s performance in the past only serves, as an indication of what he is capable of and some will say that it cannot guarantee what he will do in the future. Record of accomplishment is no substitute for a real platform that a candidate commits to and to be direct about it.

  10. I didn’t watch that forum but I think Dick Gordon is just a madman. I don’t care how can have the funds for those kindles, but it is surely that crazy to provide expensive kindle, while in the present, they cannot even provide each student a book, an actual book!

I won’t vote Gordon. In the first place, he is stealing the 60% of the Red Cross’ donations and…. I will speak no more. I think it is a secret.

  11. Mark says:

    Tricia,
How do you know if he is stealing 60% of the Red Cross? He was able to build 15,000 houses in the provinces. Ang problema sa mga Pilipino kaya hindi umuunlad dahil hindi pa nagsisimula binabaon mo na sa lupa. If you have an open mind watch this interview and he explained where he will get the funding for “Kindle”. His plan is attainable. SAbi nga ni Gordon. “Kung gusto may paraan, kung ayaw my dahilan.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYuyQxmlDF0&feature=related

  12. This is an interesting article regarding the accomplishments of Senator Gordon. The one that caught my attention was the $787 billion stimulus package of President Obama. $198 million of that money will be allocated to the Filipino WWII Veteran as a one-time payment of the 250,000 Filipino WWII veterans who fought with the Americans during the war. Senator Richard Gordon who authored the resolution. Filipino veterans will be entitled for a lump sum benefit. Filipinos living in the US will receive $15,000 each and Filipinos living in the Philippines will get $9,000 each. Unfortunately, according to the article there are only an estimated 18,000 to 20,000 surviving Filipino veterans, 13,000 of whom are living in the Philippines, while the rest are living abroad. Many have considered WWII Filipino veterans are the forgotten heroes, but thanks to Senator Richard Gordon, because of his resolution, they finally got the recognition from the American government that they solely deserved. My grandfather was among who fought with the Americans against the Japanese during WWII.
These are just among the accomplishments of Senator Richard Gordon, I can only imagine what our country would become if he is elected as the President of the Republic of the Philippines. Many people living in Olongapo during the Mt. Pinatubo disaster had been lost; however, many lives was saved and transformed because of his resourcefulness bringing more jobs after such calamity and the pull out of the American forces; he was able to establish the Subic Bay Freeport to replace the 50,000 jobs that was lost. Now, over 200,000 jobs were created in and out of Subic Bay Freeport. One platform that he plans to accomplish if he is elected as president is to decongest Metro Manila. One thing to accomplish that he plans to transform the polluted Laguna de Bay into a Freeport. This will be an easy task since he is not dealing with a calamity. I can only envision that more and more jobs will be created in the province and soon enough the residence of Manila will soon see an outflow of people away from Manila to start settling in back to the province due to the presence of jobs that will be made available for them.

  13. tricia says:

is it attainable? Why hasn’t he tried planning it with providing BOOKS to the children. which is more practical than kindles. in the situation of the country, it is not really that applicable.

He was able to build those houses because it is part of the Red Cross projects not his own money.

  14. Sony says:

Tricia is an example of a closed-minded w/ crab mentalilty Filipino.

Then she accuses Gordon of stealing 60%!! of Red Cross money!! If he stole 60% of the money, how come the Red Cross is fully modernized, had more rubber boats than NDCC.

    Tricia is malicious.

  15. Batman of Cavite says:

Sa lahat ng binasa ko n mga komento sau tricia ang pinaka..! pinaka sarado mag-isip..!

Mga Kababayan or mga supporters ni Noynoy, Villar, Villanueva, at Gibo. Please check this website. This is just one of the fruits of labor that Senator Richard Dick Gordon have planted when he founded SBMA. People of Olongapo and Subic and people who migrated to Olongapo NOW ENJOY. This is just an example of what our country would become if Richard Gordon becomes the president. Sabi nya itaga mo sa bato. He has yet to break his promise. He will always deliver on his promises.
http://www.subicbay.ph/hanjin/index2006.html The article states “Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Co. opened over the weekend a P40-million modern training center in the Subic Bay Freeport. “This training center is just one among the many good things that are happening in the Subic Freeport for the past six months and Hanjin will be the biggest shipyard in the country with a committed investment of more than $1 billion,” said Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority administrator Armand Arreza. “BY 2016, HANJIN WILL MANUFACTURE THE WORLD’S LARGEST GAS TANKER AND CARGO SHIP IN THIS FACILITY MANPOWER REQUIREMENT: INITIALLY AROUND 7,000 AND WILL PEAK TO 40 THOUSAND DIRECT AND INDIRECT WORK OPPORTUNITIES.”

Click this link…… Subic Bay is looking for Filipino skilled workers. If you ever get a job, please remember it is because of Senator Gordon’s relentless effort to create Jobs for Filipinos. Sa Subic or Olongapo, doon nyo makikita ang daloy ng buhay. So instead of volunteering for Villar, Noynoy, or Erap, get a job and help the country move forward. PAALALA LANG PO. BAWAL ANG TAMAD ATTANGA SA OLONGAPO. http://www.jobs.subicbay.ph/
