New Villar TVC very similar to Argentinian campaign TVC

The new Manny Villar TVC came out and I couldn’t help but think that it was very similar to a video which circulated on Facebook a few months ago. It wasn’t until Gangbadoy tweeted it that I realized that my initial hunch was correct. The new TVC’s idea is completely based on a campaign that was run in Argentina by Lopez Murphy. I’ve embedded both TVC’s here so you can all see how exactly the same both ads are.

NEW MANNY VILLAR TVC

LOPEZ MURPHY TVC

I’m not really a fan of doing things like this. If the Villar camp didn’t know that this was completely based on the Argentina TVC, then they should consider letting go of that agency. However if they were informed of the basis then I guess it’s all good.

Nice effort and I liked MV appearing at the end but I would have preferred something more original, hehe. ^^;

    Carlo,

    I call that “PLAGIARISM” Plagiarism is not the same as copyright infringement. While both terms may apply to a particular act, they are different transgressions. Copyright infringement is a violation of the rights of a copyright holder, when material protected by copyright is used without consent. On the other hand, plagiarism is concerned with the unearned increment to the plagiarizing author’s reputation that is achieved through false claims of authorship.

    re: the villar and lopez murphy similar ads…

    if wawam (2010presidentiablesdotwordpressdotcom) is right about the information both ads may have come from the same ad agency (tbwa) with a worldwide network.

    wawam reported that the local ad agency is TBWA backslash Santiago Mangada Puno.

    Lahat ng ads ni Villar fake. Di totoong siya ay mahirap. Di totoong namatay ang kapatid niya dahil sila ay mahirap. Pati mukha niya fake. Naka botox. Ha!Ha! Ha!

    Kay Manny Villar ang lahat ay money money money!!!

    We have a saying that money is the root of all evil.

    KAYA ALAM NYO NA. MANNY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.

    TAMA NA!! IWASAN NA ANG MGA GAYA NILA!!

    I believe that even the argentinian ad is a rip-off. The earliest one that I saw is this one:

    I you notice. It’s a very positive youth message and to rip it off for a political ad is really cheap and cynical. Shame!

    Naniniwala akong kaya ng pangulo tapusin ang kahirapan… PERO DI AKO NANINIWALA NA KAYA NI MONEY VILLAR TAPUSIN ANG KAHIRAPAN.

    Pareho kayo ng kababagsakan ng candidato sa Argentina na kinuhanan mo ng ganitong idea. PAREHO KAYONG TALO HAhahahaha!
