Mikey Arroyo buys Liquor during Ondoy

Storm “Ondoy” has literally devastated several parts of the Philippines. According to reports on the Inquirer, the storm brought in rains equal to that of a month all in a span of a few hours. That’s the main reason why a lot of areas got flooded. In fact, Ondoy was so bad it beat Katrina which leveled several cities in the US. Other than the disaster this calamity brought, what disturbs me the most is this picture taken of what looks likeRep. Mikey Arroyo the day after Ondoy. In this picture he’s in a liquor store in Katipunan buying alcohol.

Photo courtesy of (Author requested to be anonymous) on Facebook.

Author’s Note: The person who posted the picture has asked me to take down the pic because she and her family are worried for their safety and security. She has already removed the picture from her Facebook account. I’ve already advised her that if at any point someone harasses her or her family she should give me a call and I can refer them to people who can help.

The picture is a bit blurry so I can’t really say 100% that this is actually Mikey Arroyo. However, if this is true this has got to be one of the worst things a government official can do during a disaster like this! In fact, he shouldn’t even be in Manila. Pampanga, his home district, is one of the provinces that was hit pretty bad by Ondoy. I can’t think of an excuse for him at all… well… maybe he’s giving out Tequila for relief goods?

good thing you posted this. People who posted the link (in FB) to this photo was removed in less than an hour. and i heard that even if you search it over the net, the photo’s no longer available.

i clicked on the FB account where you got the link (), i’m led to my homepage instead. I think her account got suspended?

Its the filipino people’s fault for succumbing to the bullshit that these corrupt politicians give them. Something drastic needs to happen in this country. Its poor and these leeches are still stealing from its people. Filipinos need to stop voting for actors and actresses that know nothing about running their own lives much less a fucked up country.

  5. Flipside says:

So what get over it. It’s not like he caused the freaking storm. I feel bad for the people but you can’t just judge someone just because he bought alcohol after the storm. What did the other politicians do? Exactly! Nothing! Now like I said, get over it cause you aight getting anything out of this crap either

Thanks Carlo for writing something about the photo. I shared it on FB but after awhile it was shot down, as well as Randell’s and other friends. Thanks will tweet about this.

  11. Baba Yaga says:

I also saw this picture. Some friends and I are currently debating about this one.

If the link or account was suspended, there are two main reasons. First, the user (owner) was the one who deleted it. Second is that Facebook was the one who did it. Which means there was possible copyright violation. If there was such a violation, could it mean then that it is really him?

    Just my two cents.

  12. Donna says:

Kapal talaga ng mukha! I am aghast at the seeming disconnect from reality the Arroyo family demonstrates.
I guess Mikey’s idol is Dubya who proabably drank himself into a stupor as New Orleans was drowning.

  18. Donna says:

Hey Ex-Filipino citizen, let me remind you that election fraud is rampant. Nobody really knows who really won because whoever is in power manipulates the results. While it is true that the governed has responsibilty to be vigilant let me remind you that the government has the responsibilty to implement mandate which will be to the best interest of the nation, not to benefit their own personal agenda.

I agree that the Philippines has tremendous problems but blaming the governed is unfair.

  19. YlokanaBelle says:

it’s sad that the moral values of filipinos, specially those living abroad, are so callous & insensitive to the plight of their own countrymen. these people are in their predicament simply because people like you are snickering about insensitive politicians who are taking time to again use a disaster like this for political purposes and even have time to gloat over their misery? what kind of soul-less creatures have you become? the worst sin that a person can commit is his/her not doing anything in times like this. God save the Philippines!

  20. Donna says:

Hey YlokanaBelle, while I agree with your sentiments, I would like to reassure you that not all of Filipino ex-pats are this way.

  21. hahahah says:

The Arroyos are good for nothing thieves and they should burn in hell. that is all.

  22. Factsplease says:

How sure are you that this was taken DURING ONDOY?

How are sure are you that it was indeed Mikey?

Puro kayo rumors eh. You have no evidence or confirmation, yet you spread it.

You’re no different from racist Pinoys who spread rumors in the 1980′s that Jollibee (which is Filipino-Chinese owned) used cats and rats for the hamburger meat.

  23. Jay says:

I can’t believe they are already threatening her. Maybe Mikey is drinking because he can’t come back to his million dollar house in the US. He broke US laws regarding mortgage fraud, money laundering and Section 312 of the USA Patriot Act that deals with Senior Foreign Political Figures and ill-gotten wealth. He put $264K down on the house and obtained a 1st mortgage of $858K and a 2nd Mortgage for $198K. This means he claimed an income of at least $300K US to qualify for the mortgage. (he makes 40,000 Pesos a month as salary) That’s fraud. He paid the mortgage in 20 months as a Deed of Reconveyance was issued to Angela Arroyo Montenegro from IndyMac Bank on 4/15/2008, meaning they paid off the mortgages. By paying off $1,056,000 in mortgages in 20 months, they skirted the safeguards in place to monitor bank accounts. Once the house is sold, the money is now “clean” and Angela Montenegro can deposit the title company check and say she is a real estate investor and no one would know she is the daughter-in-law of the President of the Philippines. I have supplied this evidence to FBI, who can pull the original mortgage application and sniff out their other properties here. I hear there is a house in Fremont CA that Rufa Mae Quinto has boasted that Mikey bought for her as well. Now she is boasting publicly of a new house in SF, by some “mystery” man. It is well-known in showbiz circles there that she’s his kabit.

“Ondoy was so bad it beat Katrina”

i disagree. katrina was like a signal #4 with very strong winds. while ondoy has non-stop rain on a signal #1. given the state of our sewage system & how low our lands are to the point of below sea level & how irresponsible many people throw their garbage at creeks & rivers especially by the skwaters, it resulted to a massive flood.

milenyo 3 years ago was much worse in terms of how powerful it is compared to ondoy. milenyo brought down a lot of structures than ondoy.

  28. Romel says:

Hi, I reposted the Mikey picture after picking it up from another network…hours later, I got this message from a certain Andrew Lacsamana:

    —————–
Hi! Just concerned… I hope you don’t mind. The posted photo of Mikey Arroyo is a hoax. I hope we could let everyone know that this is a hoax. The owner of the photo already sent a shoutout that this is was taken a long time ago. Let’s hope this doesn’t get blown out of proportion. This is the last thing the country needs right now. I hope we could just concentrate on helping each other out after this calamity.

    Thanks

    ———————-

You seem to know the owner of the FB account which was the apparent source of the photo…Perhaps you can confirm or deny what this Mr. Lacsamana is saying…my other friends who reposted the picture on FB also received the same message from Mr. Lacsamana…

    Best,

    Romel

Sana pinalampas nyo na lang ito. Wala naman tayong magawa nito. Look, the author already deleted her facebook account. You got one scope and its not worth it. Mikey and his ilk will never go down on this but surely they will go down hard on the person who downloaded this.

    Its not worth it.

  30. isa says:

Sure everyone has the right to buy drinks whenever they want, but when you’re the son of a President that’s under attack for various reasons–and rightly so–and considering you yourself are under fire, also for the valid reasons, then you should have the brains to think that all your moves will be under close scrutiny. E ito kasing pamilyang ito sobrang kapal na ng mukha e. Figures…

  31. Giselle says:

It is painful, disappointing and frustrating to see and know the immediate concerns of public officials. If they are threatening the person who posted the pix, then it must be true. Public official sya so can take his pix. He should learn to be responsible.

  34. Marissa says:

Carlo, please just be careful since there is no positive proof that this was taken during Ondoy. It could have been taken at any time weeks ago and only posted now.

  35. anon5yrsold says:

    wala rin pic dito?

  36. Marlowe Uy says:

To the people saying “so what”, you are the kinds of filthy morons that bring this country down. When Marcos, Erap and GMA were exposed as the frauds that they are, it was trash like yourselves who arrogantly replied “so what” and let things take their course, while the unsung heroes worked long and hard to keep things afloat. It’s also funny how the ones who are not affected are the ones who bitch and complain about how other people are too noisy and preachy, but when things get bad you people start acting like pussies and demanding things get done.

  37. Aleman says:

What is the big deal if he purchased alcohol after the storm, maybe it is not for his consumption, maybe he is buying it for a friend. Ang mahirap sa ating mga Filipino, we like to assume (ass u me). So what if he is a political figure, did he drink the alcohol in public? did he cause the storm? Get over it, most politician in the Philippines are corrupt, Philippines rank # 39 as a corrupt country worldwide. Who are to be blame to put this politicians in office…us the people.

  38. filipino citizen says:

i’m glad the “ex-filipino citizen” who posted here is already that. you’re one more person i don’t need defiling my country and my people.

  39. ERMA AQUINO says:

it is his right. but it is everyone’s right also to be served properly and with all honesty by deserving government officials… if they can’t help. so be it. but they dont have to celebrate, right?

  40. rey says:

wat a stupid idiot pig ike his papa n mama. talagang kapal mukha. ls like a moron cretin

  41. zidac says:

wala kayong pakialam kung bibili sya ng alak!

  42. Jeth says:

so what wrong with pic?, uminom din naman ako kasama ang pamilya ko nuong gabi pagkatapos ng floods at i share ang ondoy “i survive” stories ko, maybe he did the same way like I did

  43. cesar says:

  44. hell says:

he’s a goddamn bullshit!! fuck him!! many filipinos are suffering because of arroyo family!!!!!!!! hellooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! arroyo family, FUCK YOU!!!
    damn bulshits!

  45. ramledi says:

to those who said “so what” and “get over it” you are all out of your mind to say that. maybe you are corrupt as well.

  46. Kawajuan says:

To Factsplease: We are not sure if this is Mikey, but he said he is in Malacañang on Saturday but if you look at the picture date, it was taken Sunday. The question is, where is he on Sunday? To Donna: The Governed should be blamed, if they followed the plans and designed of the cities and structures if the governed didn’t corrupted the budget for the design, this could be avoided.

CORRUPTION is the cost of all problems in the Philippines.

If there is no corruption, there will be more cheaper schools where the most ignorant masses Filipinos that are being used and manipulated could go and educated. If there are strict leaders, lazy Filipinos could be educated.

If the corruption is depleted, more budget for us and basic food, education, shelter and clothings will be acquired.

The more brilliant, descent, healthy Filipinos are, the better the Philippines is.

The BIG Q… How can we stop corruption. That’s something we must work on all together.

  47. Kawajuan says:

To ALEMAN: It is very disappointing that people like you exist. What is the big deal? you’re asking the big deal? the big deal is there are a lot of people out there crushed by the typhoon who needs help. You said Filipinos like to assume, you are included in it as you had used the word MAYBE… Your word is also an assumption. Its people like you helps the country down, sure he did not made the storm, but there are ways to avoid the flood caused by it if the governed did’nt corrupted the budget for it. for the fact: We did not know if he really bought the alcohol or he does change his mind and instead of buying he just let it go and go out for help. My another question that is related to the CORRUPTION is: Does the Government have the enough budget in times like this?
If you would know how big the PORK BARREL is, then you would also asking the same question.
