Mikey Arroyo buys Liquor during Ondoy

Storm “Ondoy” has literally devastated several parts of the Philippines. According to reports on the Inquirer, the storm brought in rains equal to that of a month all in a span of a few hours. That’s the main reason why a lot of areas got flooded. In fact, Ondoy was so bad it beat Katrina which leveled several cities in the US. Other than the disaster this calamity brought, what disturbs me the most is this picture taken of what looks likeRep. Mikey Arroyo the day after Ondoy. In this picture he’s in a liquor store in Katipunan buying alcohol.

Author’s Note: The person who posted the picture has asked me to take down the pic because she and her family are worried for their safety and security. She has already removed the picture from her Facebook account. I’ve already advised her that if at any point someone harasses her or her family she should give me a call and I can refer them to people who can help.

The picture is a bit blurry so I can’t really say 100% that this is actually Mikey Arroyo. However, if this is true this has got to be one of the worst things a government official can do during a disaster like this! In fact, he shouldn’t even be in Manila. Pampanga, his home district, is one of the provinces that was hit pretty bad by Ondoy. I can’t think of an excuse for him at all… well… maybe he’s giving out Tequila for relief goods?

Well, this is just a reminder that Arroyo’s Ally doesn’t really CARE TO FILIPINO PEOPLE! ALL THEY CARE IS GRABBING POWER AND MONEY! WHOEVER VOTED THIS PEOPLE SHOULD BE IN SHAME OR WHOEVER CHEATED ON THE ELECTION SHOULD BE SHY.

  2. n1kn0k says:

@ex-filipino citizen – i can’t agree with you more! only filipinos, both the governed and the government, are to be blamed for the country’s current state.

if only every filipino had a little more love and respect for his/her country and fellow pinoys, we wouldn’t be in this deep sh*thole right now.

by the way, i’m a pinoy.

  3. Heyhay says:

Hey Mikey, if you were doing a better job helping out your country, we wouldn’t suspect you doing this! But this is SO YOU!

And you know that you gave yourself away by telling the media of the Facebook moderation! If you weren’t this guy – being the good guy you claim to be – you’d at least say, “Hey I’m not that guy, I’m helping people, see? Let’s get back to work helping people, ok?” With the Monsod Career Suicide, this was all you, you don’t need us Facebook users.

Yes yes he bought liquor, everybody has the right to do that, people saw photos of tambays drinking after the flood. But he’s a GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL. HE SHOULD LEAD PEOPLE INTO HELPING. HE SHOULD AT LEAST SACRIFICE FOR THIS ONE. HE SHOULD SET A FREAKING EXAMPLE. MIKEY, WALA TALAGA KAYONG DELICADEZA.

buying liquor in the midst of the bagyo is NOT prohibited by any law (unless youre a minor). but i guess his case drew a lot of ‘pansin’ because of his status and the circumstances where he chose to do that act.

hmm.. i guess if he wants people to stop impeaching his character, i suggest he finds a rock and make it his shelter. or he could always disown his parents. :)

I didn’t see the picture so I can’t comment on that but if it’s true that Mr. Mickey Arroyo is in the picture then it is sad. But we really can’t tell if it him or not, remember, there is the power of picture editing and besides we can also assume that this are all “malicious attack” so let us not be judgmental about it.
I was just amazed by Mr. Arroyo’s suggestion,
“This is not the time to deal with people who are peddling half-truth and half-lies para lang sumikat.” (Taken from ABS-CBN News online)
That this means there is a half-truth about the picture? And then he said that blogging should still be regulated??? I agree with Rep. Risa Hontiveros that Mr. Arroyo should push tutorials for social networking ?
While acknowledging that blogging is an exercise of freedom of expression, Arroyo said he believes it should still be regulated as it has become more susceptible to abuses by unscrupulous people
But my point is, although it is really painful and tragic event especially for us with relatives living in the affected areas and do not really know how to bounce back or to start again. But as a Pilipino, I know that we are hard worker and we have the “never say die” attitude and instead of putting all our attentions to criticize or publicly do some gimmickry at the expense of others, why can’t we just hold each other’s hand and help each other. I think this is the time to show to the world again about being Pinoy.
Also, this may be a wake-up call to everybody and not just Politicians and in the coming May 2010 elections, we the Pilipino people will have the power to choose who we want to sit in “chair”. Let us all VOTE “WISELY” and from the “HEART”.

    Ah, the power of Photoshop!

  9. Vincent says:

Being an IT pro, I can say that I highly doubt that the pic was edited via Photoshop. The only real question is whether or not it’s indeed Mickey on the pic.

  10. Steppenwoelf says:

i’d think people like him have some sort of booze lackeys.

He usually attends his classes in Ateneo drunk. So, what can we expect of an idiot and thief like him?

  18. lukeh8rest says:

    what?!

    regulating facebook??!!
    the internet??!!

    ok, goodluck!

    i d i o t!

  19. IF I TOOK THAT PHOTO AND IF I WERE TELLING THE TRUTH THAT IT WAS INDEED MIKEY SHOPPING LIQUOR AT THE HEIGHT OF A STORM, I WOULD NOT REMOVE THE PIC FROM MY FACEBOOK ACCOUNT.

I mean, IF THE PERSON who first circulated that photo was telling the truth, hindi siya dapat matakot o hindi niya dapat alisin ang larawan.

Pero ngayon na umaaatras na agad siya… kaduda-duda!

  20. Kawajuan says:

hey professional heckler, kung hindi sana corrupt si mikey, hindi sya pagduduhan ng ganyan… How sure are you na umatras yung nag post, o tinanggalan sya ng account..

  21. maximus says:

    Heckler,

I don’t think the person took out the photo due to the fact that it’s not true. I think the person took out the photo because she’s afraid for her life.

The fact that the administration is known for killing journalist. Doesn’t help.

Kawawa talaga yung mga nabiktima ng Typhoon Ondoy, buti na lang at medyo naka-recover na tayo ngayon. ~
