My usual monthly bill is P3,000 – P3,500. I was really shocked last month when I saw that my bill reached P4,600+. I was already bracing myself for a P5,000 bill for April but man I almost fell out of my seat when I opened the Meralco envelope. My bill shot up once again to P7,300 even if the consumption isn’t too far from my previous month. Now this is what you call epic fail.
Inside the bill is a letter from Meralco explaining that it isn’t their fault and that the increase stemmed from generation charges. If this is the case then we should all look at DENR and the government for a solution to this. What will the Philippine government do to stabilize the prices of electricity? Or will these be the “normal” rates from now on and we can’t do a damn thing about it anymore?
If there is a Presidential, Senatorial, or whatever debate, this should be the question that should be asked: How will you resolve the energy crisis and the soaring electricity bills?

Kamusta bills ninyo? Any difference?

our bill averages at 5-5,000K monthly with a 4 hour aircon use. last march i wanted to save more so i decided not to use any aircon at all despite the heat. like you, i was so shocked to see that despite a lower consumption my bill reached 7K! talk about sacrifices!
hate freakin meralco! My bill has shot up as well. Not to mention it shot up on the month i was only home 2 weeks out of the 4!
me too. the max bill that i usually pay is less than 1200.. ako lang magisa.. and this april im expecting to see smaller amount on my electric bill because im always not at home because of the brownout and during the weekends i always go out. but when i checked the bill it’s P3006.00. meralco said they cannot do anything. eh panu nmn ako.. di na ako kakain? panu na pmasahe ko papasok ng trabaho. halos lahat ng sahod ko sa kanila na mapupunta.
Wow that scares me, coz our average is pretty much the same. How much kWH exactly is the difference between your previous bill and this one?
Is this a mad clamor to get money in their pockets before the administration changes hands?
why don’t the gov’t introduce alternative ways for getting electricity. such as installing a solar panel.
nasa tropical country tayo and we are getting a lot of sun, why not take advantage of it?
i tried personally to look for a solar panel system and sad to say, the market is not existing here. bakit kaya? tapos sasabihin ng meralco that it’s not their fault?
from regular 4-5.5k monthly, our bill shot up to 8k, and my parents is starting to blame me for the electric bill, even when i rarely use the aircon..
they refunded us with coins, and now they’re getting it back a hundred folds under a different guise. grabeeeeeeeeeeeee!
they refunded us with coins, and now they’re getting it back a thousand folds under a different guise. grabeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I also got that letter you mentioned. So, I checked my bill. Yes, there was a 52% increase in my generation charge. HOWEVER, comparing it with a month having the same kwh consumption (currently lower by 13kwh), the DISTRIBUTION charge of Meralco was 26% higher. They charged us higher for distributing less electricity to our home! The explanation given in that letter was not entirely accurate. It seems to me that it will benefit Meralco if the price of electricity keeps going higher. Their charge is probably based on percentage. Very similar to commissions, I guess.
this is only the beginning crisis of our next president will face. what else? maybe a rising oil price as demands from China and India increase, other countries like the Philippines will continue to suffer the most. there is a speculation an other increase of VAT. its not too late yet, if noynoy, villar, or erap wins who do you think they have the capability of solving such crisis? I don’t think so. if you choose any of the three…you are dead wrong. we can’t go wrong with senator Gordon. a proven leader who rose from the ashes of mt.pinatubo….he can make us proud.
