Latest SWS and Manila Standard Surveys say Villar is tied with Aquino; Pulse says otherwise

Pulse Asia released a survey last week which showed that Noynoy Aquino is pulling away from Manny Villar. However the following week two other surveys showed that the two candidates were still locked in a statistical tie. In the latest survey commissioned by BusinessWorld, both of them are still pretty much in the running on almost equal footing. The other candidates though registered gains. Not that big but still it’s a sign that the voting public is slowly realizing that it’s not just a Aquino-Villar election. Source Brother Eddie is steadily moving up; albeit at a snail’s...

Winnie Monsod denies writing “Why I will vote for Noynoy” e-mail article

A few weeks ago, an article started to circulate around e-mail and social networks. It was an article supposedly written by Winnie Monsod and it pretty much laid out a bunch of reasons why she will vote for Liberal Party standard bearer, Noynoy Aquino. I was able to read the article myself but I was a bit curious if this was really Winnie since it lacked her trademark substance and facts. This article was really more emotional – something that’s not Winnie’s style of writing. In her latest article posted on Inquirer.net, Winnie Monsod clears everything up by saying that she wasn’t...

Villar-Aquino 1 on 1 Debate

Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Noynoy Aquino challenged Nacionalista’s Senator Manny Villar to a one-on-one debate. Villar already responded by saying that if the debate would focus on issues and not mudslinging, he would gladly accept. I am all for this debate! This is something that a lot of people have been clamoring for. Let’s listen to both of them and see who really has a better platform of government. It’s time to focus on what they can do for us if they get elected to the Presidency. I applaud Senator Aquino for raising the bar and I hope that Senator Villar will...

Villar cuts down Aquino’s Lead to 7%

The latest SWS survey results are out and it looks like Senator Manny Villar is quickly gaining ground on the leading candidate, Senator Noynoy Aquino. What started as a 20%+ lead is now down to just 7%. However, I have a feeling that the next survey won’t be as forgiving as this one. This survey was taken on January 21-24 which means that the recent C5 controversy hasn’t made it’s impact yet on these numbers. It will be very interesting to see how Senator Villar will fare given the media attention the scandal got in the past few days. Here are the complete numbers for your perusal. Senator...

A weird picture

Noynoy Aquino’s “Hindi ako Magnanakaw” TVC

Senator Noynoy Aquino came out with a new wave of advertisements just recently and I have to admit that this time the material was pretty powerful. In his new TVC, Aquino talks about forming a bond with the viewers – a bond that he will not steal from them when he is in position because he will not forsake their trust. He goes on to say that he promises this in the name of his parents and even God. Truly a powerful statement. Here’s the TVC for your viewing pleasure. Kudos to the agency who came up with this.

The Noynoy Aquino – Manny Villar Facebook War Escalates

It looks like the battlefield between the two perceived front runners has expanded to cyberspace. It’s really amazing how these two candidates have polarized a lot of the online Filipinos, in particular the ones active on Facebook. As of 7:45PM, January 10, 2010, Noynoy Aquino’s fans stand at 275k. Manny Villar’s fans surged and they now number at 240k. In response to Villar’s surge on Facebook, Aquino’s camp are saying that most of the new accounts are just fake and that the “orange” team is cheating. Here’s a screenshot of the statement: Based...

Sen. Noynoy Aquino supported the Hacienda Luisita dispersal?

The Liberal Party has been focused on building up their campaign on Senator Noynoy Aquino’s integrity and character. They’re painting him as some sort of modern day saint. For years, the Aquino family has been hounded by the Hacienda Luisita massacre. When Noynoy declared his candidacy for the President, it was natural that he had to face this same ghost. His supporters and his team said that he had nothing to do with it whatsoever. Just recently a video surfaced on Youtube and Facebook which shows news clippings of Senator Noynoy Aquino (a congressman still then) defending the violent...

2010 Presidential Polls: Villar-Aquino Showdown?

The highly anticipated PULSE ASIA Presidential Preference October Survey is out and the results aren’t really surprising. Leading the pack is Liberal Party standard bearer Noynoy Aquino with a dominating 44%. Following Aquino is Nacionalista Party’s Senator Manny Villar at 19%, then Senator Chiz Escudero with 13%, and former President Joseph Estrada at 11%. Administration candidate Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro only managed to rate 2% in the survey. These numbers are pretty much consistent with the recent SWS Survey which also put Noynoy on top followed by Villar. The big discrepancy...

Chiz Escudero might just endorse Noynoy Aquino

During the first blogger event that I attended with Senator Chiz Escudero, we asked him who he would want to be President (other than him). His answer then was Senator Noynoy Aquino. Fast forward a couple of months later, I’m in another blogger event with Chiz again. This time though a lot of changes have happened. Noynoy is now actually running for President and Chiz just resigned from the NPC. I thought it would be interesting to see if what he said that would still apply. So I asked him again – if he were to not pursue his 2010 Presidential bid, would he support Noynoy Aquino? I’ve...
