Latest SWS and Manila Standard Surveys say Villar is tied with Aquino; Pulse says otherwise

Pulse Asia released a survey last week which showed that Noynoy Aquino is pulling away from Manny Villar. However the following week two other surveys showed that the two candidates were still locked in a statistical tie. In the latest survey commissioned by BusinessWorld, both of them are still pretty much in the running on almost equal footing. The other candidates though registered gains. Not that big but still it’s a sign that the voting public is slowly realizing that it’s not just a Aquino-Villar election. Source Brother Eddie is steadily moving up; albeit at a snail’s...

Magdalo Party endorses Villar-Roxas Tandem

Detained Senator Antonio Trillanes’ Magdalo party was all set to endorse Senator Chiz Escudero as their President of choice a few months ago. Wednesday morning the Magdalo group revealed their new Presidential candidate: Senator Manny Villar of the Nacionalista Party. For Vice-President though they didn’t opt to push for Senator Loren Legarda, instead they went for Liberal Party’s Senator Mar Roxas. This made me think about a possible Villar-Roxas scenario in 2010. Those two guys hate each other’s guts. I wonder what will happen if they end up as partners in steering this...

Judy Ann Santos says she was offended by Jamby Madrigal’s comments

ABS-CBN talent Judy Ann Santos shared that she was deeply hurt by Senator Jamby Madrigal’s comments during a recent forum where she said that she made a mistake when she got a celebrity endorser to back her senatorial campaign in 2004. According to Juday, she went out of her way to really campaign for Jamby and that she seriously believed in the capabilities of Madrigal during the campaign. She goes on to say that she won’t say anything else about the matter since it will just blow things out of proportion again. Here’s a short quote from the article on ABS-CBN: During the Philippine...

Villar-Aquino 1 on 1 Debate

Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Noynoy Aquino challenged Nacionalista’s Senator Manny Villar to a one-on-one debate. Villar already responded by saying that if the debate would focus on issues and not mudslinging, he would gladly accept. I am all for this debate! This is something that a lot of people have been clamoring for. Let’s listen to both of them and see who really has a better platform of government. It’s time to focus on what they can do for us if they get elected to the Presidency. I applaud Senator Aquino for raising the bar and I hope that Senator Villar will...

To the 2010 Presidential Candidates: STOP THE MUDSLINGING!

The 2010 campaign has literally been reduced to name-calling, baseless accusations, and rumor mongering. Instead of presenting their platforms for government and their plans for the country, candidates have resorted to waging a poisoned media war. I used to be an avid fan of politics but now I’m frustrated with the insanely low level of politics that we have in this country. After C5, the Liberal Party started to pedal the rumor that Villar was PGMA’s secret candidate. Then it was followed up by Senator Jamby Madrigal who went as far as insulting the wife of Senator Villar. But wait,...

Google can make you support Manny Villar

(Author’s Note: I was recently contacted by Nick Perlas’ volunteer and was informed that the site I used as an example in this post was actually not the official website of Nick Perlas. Let me issue a public apology for that. Apparently the site I pointed out was made by a fan or something) As most of you have probably noticed, a lot of politicians are taking advantage of the internet to promote themselves. If you own a website or a blogger and you run Google Adsense, make sure that you filter your ads because politicians will definitely want to appear there. For example, in one of...

Joc Joc Bolante’s Coalition with Nacionalista Party?

As most of you know, I am a supporter of Senator Manny Villar. I have to admit that it’s hard to defend this guy, especially to my friends and colleagues who really believe that he is guilty with the recent C5 controversy. I’ll write about C5 again sometime again tomorrow or tuesday since I recently just saw Winnie Monsod’s refute to Villar’s defenders. For now, let me take a very aggressive stance against the Nacionalista Party. One that I just can’t understand and I really need an answer for because I find this issue very troubling. According to MLQ, the Nacionalista...

To Aquino, Enrile, Madrigal, et. al: File a case against MV!

I think I finally have a solution to this C5 controversy that’s win-win for everyone. First the senators who claim to be champions of TRUTH, HONESTY, JUSTICE, and INTEGRITY should drop their act. You guys are obviously using this as a campaign issue in the upcoming 2010 elections. The one who should be charged with being unethical is the lot of you. It’s hard to say that you’re doing this “FOR THE PEOPLE” when you are also running for office because no one stands to gain more from Villar’s downfall than you guys. FILE A CASE AT THE OMBUDSMAN If you really believe...

Villar Rebuts Winnie Monsod’s article on the C5 Controversy

Senator Manny Villar went to the Senate today to finally defend himself against the relentless pummeling of his political rivals. He gave his speech and then walked out, refusing to debate with Senator Jamby Madrigal. In his speech he categorically denied and rebutted most of the major issues that were slammed against him. I’d like to take this opportunity to match his responses from his speech to the article written by Winnie Monsod which practically condemned Manny Villar. Mareng Winnie’s article has been circulating all over Facebook and the blogosphere so this is a good time to...

Villar cuts down Aquino’s Lead to 7%

The latest SWS survey results are out and it looks like Senator Manny Villar is quickly gaining ground on the leading candidate, Senator Noynoy Aquino. What started as a 20%+ lead is now down to just 7%. However, I have a feeling that the next survey won’t be as forgiving as this one. This survey was taken on January 21-24 which means that the recent C5 controversy hasn’t made it’s impact yet on these numbers. It will be very interesting to see how Senator Villar will fare given the media attention the scandal got in the past few days. Here are the complete numbers for your perusal. Senator...
